Meet Jose Gabriel Berrio
Meet Jose Gabriel Berrio, a venerable figure known across the coffee industry for his unwavering commitment to the land. For over 60 years, he has lovingly owned and cultivated his cherished coffee farm, La Esperanza, located in the serene landscapes of Betania, Antioquia.
From his early days working alongside his father, Jose Gabriel’s destiny was intertwined with the art of coffee farming. Taking the reins of La Esperanza while still young, he imbued the farm with traditional wisdom and modern sustainable practices, transforming it into a beacon of exceptional coffee production.
Beyond the bountiful harvests, Jose Gabriel’s most cherished accomplishment is his family. As a father to six, a grandfather to twenty-eight, and a great-grandfather to twelve, he is not only the custodian of La Esperanza but also the heartbeat of a sprawling generational legacy. His dedication to the land and its lessons has seamlessly passed through the ages, creating a deep-rooted connection that binds the family together.
Now at 80 years old, Jose Gabriel still tends to his beloved coffee plants with a passion that defies time.
